The
Cricket Wales recognises that Coach Education plays a pivotal
role in
the overall development of cricket within the country and will run
various
courses throughout the winter months of 2011/12 to expand and improve
its
existing coaching base.
ECB
Level 1 to Coach
Award Conversion Course - £200
The ECB
Conversion course is designed for coaches
wanting to update their existing ECB Level I qualification to the ECB
Coach
(UKCC2) qualification. By attending the conversion course, coaches will
have an
opportunity to receive the latest developments relevant to their
coaching. A
major focus of the updated ECB courses is the importance of balancing
the
technical aspects (what to coach) with the way in which coaches are
able to
deliver that message (how to coach) with the ultimate aim of ensuring
that
players learn.
All
courses will require attendance or evidence of attendance on a Good
Parctice
Child Protection course and a minimum 3 hour First aid course as well
as the
enhanced CRB check.
Coach
Development Workshops 2011/ 2012 - £25 per workshop (details link)
In
addition to the certificated
courses Cricket Wales will be running Coach
Development Workshops for
those coaches who wish to develop their own coaching skills and prepare
for the
ECB Club Coach award or Level 3
These workshops will be three hours in duration and are non-assessed

All coaches should have personal insurance and be members of
the ECB
Coaching Association see the ECB CA

publication "Hitting the
Seam", Handbook. For merchandise and other resources: contact

Other coaching related issues:
Each winter sees a busy picture of coaching for Welsh Squads at the
National
Development Centres at Neath, Llandrindod Wells, Newport,
Cardiff
and
Towyn. At regional level coaching programmes are run
for U11-U15
youth squads. Coaching
Associations
run 'open' Dragon skills award programmes, for which any WCA affiliated
club can apply to the CBW for a Dragon awards starter pack.
Hopefully this
will encourage more clubs to run comprehensive coaching
courses and
stimulate coaches by offering a ready-made series of coaching
activities as
well as providing a certificate for children to aim
for!
Umpire Training
For those of you interested in becoming an umpire several courses are
