U11/U14/U15 Competition

It is the responsibility of the Home (team named first in ALL the fixtures) team manager to confirm fixtures start times and venues. Attached is a list of all the official CBW fixtures for each region. Each Age Group competition game can only be postponed due to weather conditions. If a team postpones a match for any other reason they forfeit the game and 12 points are awarded to the opposition.

Results must be sent by each manager on the Match report form provided to the Director of Cricket (peterhybart@glamorgancricket.co.uk) and to your Cricket Development Officer within 3 days of the fixture being played.

Results and League tables will be displayed on the Regional Cricket section cbw.org website,

The U11, U14 and U15 Competitions finals will place in the week commencing Monday 23^rd August, 2010, venues and dates to be confirmed in due course.

Please read the Competition rules thoroughly and provide a copy for the standing umpires.

North: Cardiff & Vale, Eryri and North East Wales will play each other home & away (4 fixtures)

South: Carmarthenshire, Gwent, Mid Glamorgan, Pembrokeshire and West Glamorgan play each other once (4 fixtures)

The number of overs per match should only be reduced due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Bowler limitations are 20% per bowler per innings ie 40 over per innings max of 8 overs per bowler

FIELDING RESTRICTIONS

For young players in the U10, U11, U12 & U13’s age group and below, the distance is 11 yards (10 meters) ) from the middle stump, except behind the wicket on the off side, until the batsman has played at the ball.

No young player in the U 14 andU15 age group shall be allowed to field closer than 8 yards (7.3 meters) from the middle stump, except behind the wicket on the off side, until the batsman has played at the ball.

These minimum distances apply even if the player is wearing a helmet.

Should a player in these age groups come within the restricted distance the umpire must stop the game immediately and instruct the fielder to move back.

Age groups are based on the age of the player at midnight on 31st August in the year preceding the current season.

Results Match Reports

Managers and or Coaches of each side should complete a match report of each game and e-mail to the D of C and your CDO within 3 days of the fixture. Results and league tables will be updated regularly on the website cbw.org.uk. A Match report sheet is attached.

Additional arrangements for residential competitions

¨ Teams: The full names of players, managers/coaches must be forwarded to the Competition organiser 21 days prior to the commencement of a competition.

¨ Costs: To ease administration we will deduct the cost of the festivals direct from regional payments as per last year.

¨ Meetings: The Manager and coach must attend all meetings as requested by the competition organiser.

¨ Curfews: During residential competitions managers/coaches must ensure that their players return to bedrooms by 10.30pm, when lights out and silence are observed.

COMPETITION RULES 2010

Please read all points thoroughly

1) Hours of Play For non-residential

Start at 11.30am with lunch/tea break between innings. Timings can be changed by agreement of both team coaches/managers

For residential competitions: - These will be determined by the Competitions organiser but in general play will commence at 11am on the first three days and finish at 5.30pm latest. On the last day, play will commence at 10.15am and finish by 4.15pm, except for the ‘Final’ which will l start at 10.45am and finish at 5.15pm.

2) Points System

12 Points for a win will only be awarded in rain affected matches, where 20 overs (minimum game) have been bowled by both sides. In an abandoned match that is not subsequently rearranged and played 6 points will be awarded to each team .

3) Bonus Points

A maximum of 10 bonus points are available as follows

Batting bonus points (maximum of 5) – 75 runs 1 batting bonus point, 100 runs 2 batting bonus points, 125 runs 3 batting bonus points, 150 runs 4 batting bonus points, 175 runs 5 batting bonus points. Side batting second and winning is awarded 1pt for each 2 wickets intact subject to a maximum of 5 batting bonus points.

Bowling bonus points (maximum of 5) -1 bowling bonus point for taking 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 wickets.

In the event of teams still being equal on points (bonus points should make this a less likely occurrence), the winner shall be the team with the better bowling strike rate, determined by the total number of overs bowled (in all competition matches including those not completed) divided by the total numbers of wickets taken.

4) Match Balls

A new ball must be provided for each innings of each game by the HOME team, in addition suitable spares must be available.

5) Umpires

Fully qualified affiliated umpires must be appointed for all matches

6) 12^thMan/ Player

Sides can only bat and field eleven however the 12^th player is permitted to bowl and field.

7) Loss of playing time

A reduction of overs will be made for playing time interruption. In the first innings, every 5 minutes lost = one over lost for both innings. If there is rain in the second innings, overs are lost for the side batting second, at the rate of one over per 5 minutes lost. The revised winning run target will be calculated by runs scored (side batting first) divided by overs received. E.g. 180 runs from 45 overs equals run rate of 4 per over, a 30-minute interruption equals 6 overs. Target 181 to win reduced by 24 runs ( 6 overs x 4 run rate) = 157off 39 overs. If the revised target includes a fraction the figure should be rounded up to the nearest whole. If the team batting first is bowled out in less that the full quota of overs the calculation of the run rate required shall be based on the full quota of overs to which they would have been entitled and not the number of overs in which they were dismissed. Bowlers overs limitations will reduce pro rata to 20% of overs per innings. e.g. if reduced to 20 overs no bowler can bowl more than 4 overs.

8) Limited Overs

Matches to be strictly limited overs: no unused overs from 1^st innings to be brought into the 2^nd innings

9) League position. In the event of teams being equal on points the winner shall be the team with the better bowling strike rate, determined by the total number of overs bowled (in all competition matches including those not completed) divided by the total numbers of wickets taken

10) Photographs

The CBW will not permit photographs, video images or other images of Young People to be taken without the consent of the Parents/Carers and the Young Person as per ECB Welfare of Young People Policy. Permission must be sought from either the CBW in writing or the Coaches in Charge on the day of the match.

11) ECB Fast Bowling Match Directives

The ECB directives will apply in regard to the maximum numbers of overs per spell, but bowlers are also restricted to no more 20% of the number of allocated overs per innings ie 40 overs – 8 overs per bowler, 50 overs – 10 overs per bowler.

For the purpose of these Directives a fast bowler is defined as a bowler to whom a wicket keeper in the same age group would in normal circumstances stand back to take the ball. Having completed a spell the bowler cannot bowl again, from either end, until the equivalent number of overs to the length of his spell have been bowled from the same end. A bowler can change ends without ending his current spell provided that he bowls the next over that he legally can from the other end. If this does not happen his spell is deemed to be concluded. If play is interrupted, for any reason, for less than 40 minutes any spell in progress at the time of the interruption can be continued after the interruption up to the maximum number of overs per spell for the appropriate age group. If the spell is not continued after the interruption the bowler cannot bowl again, from either end, until the equivalent number of overs to the length of his spell before the interruption have been bowled from the same end. If the interruption is of 40 minutes or more, whether scheduled or not, the bowler can commence a new spell immediately.

Once a bowler covered by these Directives has bowled in a match he cannot exceed the maximum number overs per day for his age group even if he subsequently bowls spin. He can exceed the maximum overs per spell if bowling spin, but cannot then revert to bowling fast until an equivalent number of overs to the length of his spell have been bowled from the same end.

If he bowls spin without exceeding the maximum number of overs in a spell the maximum will apply as soon as he reverts to bowling fast. Captains, Team Managers and Umpires are asked to ensure that these Directives are followed at all times.

For guidance it is recommended that in any 7 day period a fast bowler should not bowl more than 4 days in that period and for a maximum of 2 days in a row, eg in a tournament/festival lasting 4 days a fast bowler may bowl on day 1 and 2, not bowl on day 3 , bowl on day 4.
